Leon Warburton is the founder of Baker Partners and the portfolio manager of the Baker Partners Investment Fund.
Previously, Mr Warburton was employed at Patersons Securities Limited where he specialised in global resources equities. His primary focus was advising on and facilitating equity and debt capital raisings for Australian, Canadian and UK listed companies. With a well-established background in global equity, commodity, currency and debt markets, Mr Warburton later established hedge fund firm Warburton Investment Management where he was the portfolio manager for the Warburton Global Fund. Over its initial two years, the Warburton Global Fund delivered audited returns of 65.6% per annum and was the second-best performing hedge fund in Asia. The intellectual property developed at Warburton Investment Management was later repurposed and spun-out into Baker Partners.
Mr Warburton is an alumnus of Scotch College and was the recipient of the Gordon Gooch academic scholarship. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Commerce and Law from the University of Western Australia.
Ross Gearing is responsible for investment oversight at Baker Partners.
He began his career with a brief stint in financial planning at PSG before working as a business consultant for firms in South Africa, Botswana and the United Kingdom and then later as an offshore investment bank analyst for Investec in Mauritius. Mr Gearing is a keen endurance athlete and has competed in one of the worlds hardest Ironman-distance triathlons in Switzerland that traversed a staggering 5,500m in altitude through the race. He has also competed locally in ultramarathons and relishes the challenge of preparing and racing in these mentally challenging events.
Mr Gearing is an alumnus of Radley College. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Stellenbosch University and a Masters of Science in Marketing with Distinction from Oxford Brookes University.
Natalie André has overall responsibility for operations at Baker Partners.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a senior project manager where she was responsible for growing company turnover.
Ms André is an alumna of Presbyterian Ladies' College. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Curtin University, a Diploma of Project Management from the Central Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Finance with Honours from Yale University.
